Ethical Issue Arise from Reports Hacking People's Phone

The recent close of 198 year old tabloid,"The news of the world" on the allegations of news reporters hacking phones of celebrities and victimins of murder to access their private information send shivering down the nerves of people. How safe are the people in the modern of world of technology. The reporters desperate to get those very secret and inside truth to the publish them they do the unthinkable, use the technology to intrude into the privacy of people hacking telephone. In the News of the World piasco, it is also reported that police personal are bribed to get to get details of information that are to be highly confidential and remain police or court documents until such time deemed appropriate to be released for public consumption to the reporters.

The motive and ethics

The motive is so simple, to profit at the expense of the innocent unsuspecting victimns by rich, powerful and well to do by using the powerful tool of information, newspaper. The news of the world is the second biggest British tabloid and its circulation accounts for 2.7 millions copies per week. Imagine a headline that catches the society's attention and companies having their ads to take the opportunity for publicity, we are talking about millions of pounds a week made. The proceeds obtained from such scheme added to the already rich and powerful. What else would be the motive? The too common reason for investigative journalism for the benefit of public knowledge is too a cheap an ethical stance.

The ethics of Public Knowledge outweights private or personal previllege is in such situation is now the subject of discussion. What kind of interest that would benefit the public when hackering relatives of a murder victimn? What particular benefit the public will enjoy from a celebrity's engagement? Actually nothng more than a news would be public benefit, but it will adevrsely affect the people concerned. It is also important for the benefit of the individuals to enjoy some fundamental freedom and one of the essence of freedom is privacy. The news reporters can not go intruding into peoples' private lives and publish their stories in the name of public interests. The individual interests is so important as it affects them more than the public. The pain, loss, joy, and all that comes with it are felt by the individuals and not the public.

The ethics of public knowledge has its credence in cases of corruption, terrorism, drug smuggling and money laundering etc. It affects thepublic at large. The public feel some form of effect of the acts. But to hack private people's phone and have their private information published in the one of the most read newspaper in the world and use such reason is very cruel.. The society needs to speak against such coorperate behaviour.

Good hub! Don't you mean "Hacking," though, not hackering?
